Developer Creative Assembly is honouring Henry Cavill by adding a character inspired by him in the latest Total War: Warhammer 2 DLC.

Since The Witcher premiere on Netflix in December last year, British actor Henry Cavill quickly became one of the favourite celebrities amongst gaming communities around the world.

Many doubted his capabilities to properly portrait Geralt of Rivia, but he proved to be perfect for the role. As a result, he has received universal praise from critics and fans alike.

It quickly became apparent that this handsome, muscular actor is also a big nerd and passionate gamer.

He played World of Warcraft for years and even missed some important phone calls because he was in the middle of raiding, apparently playing a healer.

He is a huge The Witcher fan, he read all the books and played all three games. When he heard that Netflix will make The Witcher TV show, he told his agent to stop everything else and focus on securing him a role in it.

In April, Cavill revealed that he was spending his COVID-19 quarantine time painting Warhammer miniatures, and we already knew that he's a big Total War fan and fan of strategy games in general.

It seems only natural that Creative Assembly, Total War developers, have decided to pay him a tribute in the latest Total War: Warhammer 2 DLC, The Warden and the Paunch.

As noticed by PCGamesN, upon starting a campaign as Eltharion, you will find a Loremaster of Hoeth named "Cavill". If you think that name is maybe just a coincidence, look at his traits.

One of his abilities is called White Wolf, and Geralt of Rivia is known as the White Wolf. Its effect is "+15 bonus vs large" and Geralt is always fighting some big monsters.

The second part of this ability is "Potion of Toughness" and witchers are known for their use of potions before battles.

Richard Aldridge, Warhammer II Game Director, confirmed that Henry was indeed an inspiration for the character.

"When when I saw a certain Mr Cavill mentioned that he enjoys nothing more than firing up Total War: Warhammer or painting a few models in his spare time, I thought it would be fun to somehow inject him into the game, like we have with a number of developers over the years. You might even spot me," he explained. "With the Warden and the Paunch coming up, it felt like a good time to include Henry, and what better way than having a mighty Loremaster of Hoeth by your side with a few personal special traits to play with when starting a campaign as Eltharion."

Total War: Warhammer II – The Warden and the Paunch comes out on 21 May along with The Total WAAAGH! update, which will be free for all players.
