Gotta Go Speedily Into Prison, I Guess
Yuji Naka Has Been Sentenced To 2.5 Years In Prison

Yuji Naka has been sentenced to two years and six months in prison due to insider trading.

According to renpou.com, Naka has been sentenced to "2 years and six months of imprisonment, 4 years of probation, 2 million yen fine and a 170 million yen additional fine"

Naka was first arrested in November 2022 and was charged with violating the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act of 2006 by buying shares of the Dragon Quest Tact publisher before the game was announced to the public.

Naka was arrested again in December of the same year, accused of buying shares of ATeam before Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier was announced, with Naka himself admitting his guilt in March 2023.

Naka is known primarily for being the lead programmer of the original Sonic the Hedgehog games, although recently he branched off to create his first independent title, Balan Wonderworld, which was received extremely negatively by both critics and audiences alike.
