How To Fix Lag and FPS Stuttering In Warzone 2 & DMZ

Players are already diving headfirst into the new Al Mazrah map in Warzone 2 as they try out new weapons and load-outs in the Battle Royale and DMC modes. Unfortunately, several players have reported connection issues or heavy lag in-game that is hindering their enjoyment of Warzone 2. 

Thankfully, there are several methods available to help fix these issues. This article will cover why you may be experiencing lag in Warzone 2, as well as possible solutions to help make your game run more smoothly.

Why Are Warzone 2 And DMZ Lagging?

There are several reasons why Warzone 2 and DMZ could be lagging. The most obvious causes for in-game lag are:

• Your graphics settings are too high.
• Issues with your internet connection.
• Server issues on Warzone's end. 

Additionally, it should be noted that as Warzone 2 is still a new game, there are likely to be some teething issues that come with any large-scale launch. 

How To Fix Warzone 2 And DMZ Lag

You can fix Warzone 2 and DMZ lag by first reducing your overall graphics settings. If your PC or console is not powerful enough to run the game at a high graphics setting, you should lower the overall quality and reduce or turn off any unnecessary features. These include:

• V-Sync
• Texture Resolution
• Distant Level of Detail
• Clutter Draw Distance
• On-Demand Texture Streaming
• Particle Quality
• Particle Quality Level
• Shadow Map Resolution
• Ambient Occlusion
• Screen Space Shadows
• Screen Space Reflections
• Static Reflection Quality
• Depth of Field
• Weapon Motion Blur
• World Motion Blur

Failing this, restart your internet router, as a slow connection could be affecting you in-game. If possible, a wired ethernet connection will always be better than connecting via Wi-Fi. Additionally, make sure you have closed all other processes and are not currently downloading anything or live-streaming anything. All of these things will eat up bandwidth and make you lag in-game. Those on PC should also make sure the latest Nvidia or AMD graphics driver is installed. 

If you have checked all of the above issues and are still experiencing lag, the issue is likely on Activision's end. As mentioned, Warzone 2 is still in its infancy, and there are bound to be some issues while the game finds its footing. Activision is likely aware of any issues causing lag and will fix the problem as soon as possible as the game receives more post-launch support.
