How to Unlock M13B Assault Rifle in Warzone 2 DMZ & MW2

There's a lot to unlock in Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 Season 01 via the new Battle Pass system, from the BAS-P SMG to the Victus XMR Sniper Rifle, the Blackout Roze Operator skin, and more. However, there is one unlock that players are not exactly happy with, and that's the new assault rifle, the M13B. 

This guide explains how you can unlock the M13B assault rifle (AR) for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 via a specific challenge.

How to Unlock M13B AR for MW2 & Warzone 2

The M13B assault rifle is dubbed as a "super stable" weapon with a high rate of fire, perfect for mid-range combat. However, it is not unlocked via the battle pass but instead as part of the Bruen Platform progression.

This all seemed fine until Call of Duty fans realized that they would need to complete a DMZ-specific challenge to unlock it. There is no way to unlock the M13B AR by playing Warzone 2's battle royale modes or Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer.

Instead, you will need to complete a DMZ-specific challenge, tasking you to defeat the Chemist (a highly-armored, powerful NPC) in DMZ mode. The specific challenge description reads: "Unlock by defeating the Chemist in the radiation zone of DMZ and extracting his dropped weapon."

Follow the steps below to unlock the M13B Assault Rifle via the DMZ mode to use in MW2 and WZ2:

• Head into a DMZ match with at least 3 other friends.
• Collect Gas Masks for your team.
• Head to the Radiation Zone in DMZ mode.
• Find the Chemist NPC marked on your Tac-Map with a Yellow hazmat suit icon.
• Defeat the Chemist. The NPC is a bit of a bullet sponge so open fire with your highest-damage weapons.
• Pick up the M13B Assault Rifle (a special Blueprint version with five attachments and yellow camo).
• Successfully exfiltrate from the DMZ while carrying the M13B.

There are some caveats, making unlocking the M13B even more challenging. You need to be the first team to defeat the Chemist to pick up the M13B AR. Furthermore, only the player actually carrying the M13B when exfiltrating will unlock the new gun, which means multiple attempts will be required to get your whole squad this AR.

So there you have it, a way to unlock the new M13B Assault Rifle (AR) in Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2. Unfortunately, you will either need to open your wallet for a store bundle or head into DMZ, even though it might not be your preferred game mode.
