With the release of World of Warcraft's Dragonflight expansion now behind us, the heroes of Azeroth are rushing to Dragon Isles, helping the Dragon Aspects, learning more about all the drama surrounding these magnificent entities, and more. There's also Dragonriding, which is a whole lot of fun. You get it; it's all about dragons...but what if you want even more?
That's where the WoW Dragonflight Augmented Reality (AR) App comes in. This allows you to take photos of your very own WoW dragon in your room, at the mall, or just about anywhere else really. Yes, you can also take selfies with a dragon...what a world we live in. Here's how you can use the app and the types of dragons available.
How To Use WoW Dragonflight Augmented Reality (AR) App
Using the WoW Dragonflight Augmented Reality (AR) App is quite simple. First off, it works on both Android and iOS devices, so just go ahead and scan the QR code in the image above to get started.
There is no download required. You will need to allow access to your phone's camera, either "once" or "always," when using the app. Users should see a pop-up notification appear the first time they use the app.
From here, just pick a dragon type and either use your front or back camera, the latter being used for picks of the dragon in your room, for example.
insert tweet
The former gets used for selfies, of course. The dragons are also animated, as seen in the Tweet above, so get creative!
If you don't like QR codes for some odd reason, you can also visit the GetMyOwnDragon.com website from your mobile device.
All WoW Dragonflight Dragons in AR App
While it is awesome to take photos and selfies with your dragon via the WoW Dragonflight AR App, there is one disappointing factor. There are only four dragons available.
- Wylderdrake
- Renewed Proto-Drake
- Velocidrake
- Highland Drake
We can't help but think this is a bit of a missed opportunity since they could have added all Dragon Aspects into the mix with some fantastic effects. Off the top of my head, they could have the Bronze Dragonflight leader with time-warping effects...
So there, you have everything you need to know about this fun, official app that allows you to take selfies with your dragon. While this Augmented Reality experience for WoW Dragonflight isn't perfect, it looks incredible when you get the positionings just right. We wish there were more than four dragons to choose from.
