How to fix screen flickering issue in Shadowlands

There's finally a way to fix the annoying screen flickering issue in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands for those with NVIDIA graphics cards.
How to fix screen flickering issue in Shadowlands

Ever since the World of Warcraft: Shadowlands beta, and reported since December 2021, some citizens of Azeroth have been experiencing random screen flickering. While some tried to fix it by disabling all addons (ouch!) and others by reinstalling the game, disabling DX12 and more, nothing seemed to work as a permanent solution It's been more than half a year, and now, finally, there's a way to fix the annoying screen flickering issue in Shadowlands...

How to fix Shadowlands screen flickering issue

If you've been experiencing random screen flickering in Shadowlands' zones, with the issue being the most prevalent in Theater of Pain, Bastion and Ardenweald areas, then we've got a fix to share.

Keep in mind this is just for those on NVIDIA graphics cards, as the drivers from 460.00 onward were actually the root cause of the issues.

To fix the screen flickering issue for good in Shadowlands, you should follow the steps below.

  • Download the latest NVIDIA drivers "471.11" or above.
  • This can be done either via the GeForce Experience app on your desktop or via the official Driver Search function on NVIDIA's website.
  • Install the GeForce 471.11 drivers or a later version for those reading this from the future!
  • Restart your PC.
  • Launch World of Warcraft and experience a flicker-free Shadowlands for the first time.

While it is quite frustrating that the Shadowlands random screen flickering issue has been around for more than six months, it has at least been fixed at this point.

Keep in mind this was not the fault of developer Blizzard, and not everyone experienced this issue. It was only for those on NVIDIA graphics cards, after all, and AMD users have not reported this issue.
