Throughout your adventures in Tears of the Kingdom, you will find various weapons in treasure chests, enemies, and even just in the environment. All of the weapons that you find can eventually break. The Master Sword though has the lore to be the best weapon in the Kingdom of Hyrule and can push back evil. But can it break?

The Master Sword is a bit different compared to other weapons. This particular weapon is designed to fight the final boss of the game. Although you can find it early and use it on other enemies, that is the primary design for this weapon. With that being said, yes, the Master Sword can break, but not permanently.

When the Master Sword breaks in Tears of the Kingdom, you do not get a notification that the weapon broke. Instead, it will say that the Master Sword ran out of energy. That is highly different than it breaking and it will need some time to recharge. Recharging the Master Sword is fairly easy and does not require you to do anything.

All you need to do is wait. It takes 10 minutes to recharge the Master Sword. That is 10 real-world minutes that need to pass before Master Sword is back to normal at full durability. Every break is the same and it will always take 10 minutes to recharge. An interesting thing to note is that when you are facing the final boss in Tears of the Kingdom, the Master Sword cannot break.
