Wandering around on foot might be one way to get around in 7 Days to Die - and the method of transportation that you'll have to start with - but there are many other great ways to get where you're going. It's a lot easier to traverse the map and explore, as well as find what you need, if you have your own car in 7 Days to Die. In the late-game, it's almost necessary to have a vehicle to get around. There are thankfully numerous different ways to get a car or bike, but not all of them are obvious or easy.

How To Get Yourself A Car In 7 Days to Die

There are numerous methods to getting vehicles in 7 Days to Die. It's possible to get a car or other vehicle as a reward for completing quests, but it's also possible to find vehicles sitting about or even craft them yourself. These methods are some of the most reliable methods to getting a car or vehicle in the game.

Complete Tier 1 Quests

Completing all of the Tier 1 Quests in 7 Days to Die will net you a bike as a reward. Bikes are an efficient way to get around, so this is definitely something you'll want to accomplish early on. As you complete more Tiers of quests, you'll earn more vehicle assembly items, like minibike parts. Therefore, questing is a good way to earn vehicle parts all around, but completing the Tier 1 quests is the only way to directly get a vehicle as a reward.

Craft Vehicles

Another way to get vehicles in 7 Days to Die is to craft them yourself, though getting to this point can take some work and dedication. Over time, you'll be able to craft better vehicles than when you first start out. You'll first need to level up your Vehicle crafting skill, which will give you access to crafting increasingly useful vehicles as you increase it. To level up a skill, spend your skill points in that area.

Then, you can craft the vehicle of your choice. Different vehicles need different types of items to craft them, so you'll also have to grab the items you need to craft the specific vehicle you're working on. Once you have all of the items you need to craft the vehicle you're building, you can head to your Workbench and make your own truck, bike, minibike, or car.

Buy From Vendors

The last option for getting a vehicle in 7 Days to Die is to buy one from a vendor. There are many vendors scattered throughout the map, each one selling their own set of items that may help you on your journey. However, vendors don't usually start selling vehicles until late-game, so this isn't the best way to get your first car. They're also quite expensive, so crafting one might be your best bet. Buying a vehicle from a vendor is usually a last-ditch option in 7 Days to Die, since crafting a vehicle is much less expensive (although it is more time-consuming).

As we mentioned, there are several types of drivable vehicles available in 7 Days to Die. Here they are, in the order you'll be able to craft them (and in order of overall usefulness). We've also included the items needed to craft each one:

  • Bicycle - 2 Wheels, 1 Bicycle Chassis, 1 Bicycle Handlebars, 1 Mechanical Parts
  • Minibike - 2 Wheels, 1 Minibike Chassis, 1 Minibike Handlebars, 1 Engine, 1 Lead Car Battery
  • Motorcycle - 2 Wheel, 1 Motorcycle Chassis, 1 Motorcycle Handlebars, 1 Engine, 1 Lead Car Battery
  • 4x4 Truck - 4 Wheels, 4x4 Truck Chassis, 4x4 Truck Accessories, Engine, Lead Car Battery
  • Gyrocopter - 3 Wheels, 1 Gyrocopter Chassis, 1 Gyrocopter Accessories, 1 Engine, 1 Lead Car Battery

There are also some non-drivable vehicles in 7 Days to Die that you can find at POIs, but they won't provide you the same usefulness as those that you can actually drive. Instead, you can just scrap these vehicles for resources.

Overall, the best way to get started out with your first vehicle in 7 Days to Die is to get the bike as your first one, from completing Tier 1 Quests. Aside from getting food and water, getting a bike should be one of the first things you do. After that, you can endeavor to craft vehicles of your own at the Workbench, and maybe even buy one from a vendor if your finances permit.
