The survival MMO Conan Exiles recently celebrated its 5th Anniversary in June 2023, followed by the launch of the game's latest age, the Age of War. Before its release, it held a Public Beta for PC, which allowed eager players to playtest the upcoming content and features, and explore all the new balance changes ahead of its release.
Five years after its official launch, the game has seen multiple content and game updates available across multiple platforms; however, there has yet to be a native version for the PlayStation 5 consoles. Players wondering why this hasn't been made available won't need to wonder anymore, as the developer recently shed some light on the possibility of a PS5 version for Conan Exiles.
Currently, the game is available on PC via Epic Games Store and Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Game Pass as of May 2021. Additionally, the developer has launched optimizations for Xbox Series X|S consoles; however, there have yet to be any optimizations or a port for the PlayStation 5 consoles.
We had the pleasure of interviewing Conan Exiles' lead designer, Dennis Douthett, following the launch of the Age of Wars Chapter 1 to discuss the game's anniversary, the success of the Age of Sorcery, and the future of Conan Exiles. Speaking of the future of Conan Exiles, we asked Douthett whether Conan Exiles will receive optimizations for PlayStation, much like they had done for the Xbox platform in 2021.
As the Xbox Series X|S version included Quality and Performance modes, Quality mode runs in 4K at 30 FPS while Performance mode runs at 1440p with 60FPS. When asked if Funcom plans to bring similar upgrades for PlayStation 5 consoles, Douthett commented whether this would be considered for Conan Exiles.
At the moment, I can't give any news on a PS5-specific version – but we know it's something a lot of people do want. For now, I can only say to keep an eye out!
Players who own the PS4 version on PS5 consoles are playing the game without a few features but still running it smoothly graphic-wise. Nevertheless, this update on the possibility of a PS5 version of the game should excite players as they can look forward to reexperiencing the brutality of the Exiled Lands and the Isle of Siptah in Conan Exiles.
As for the timeline, Douthett has yet to comment on when this will be made available, and as such, we'll provide the latest news and updates once information becomes available. Conan Exiles Age of War Chapter 1 is available on PC via Epic Games and Steam, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass, and PlayStation 4.
