Before we get to unlocking the best weapon in Grounded, we want to explain quickly why Fungnir is so incredibly powerful. Its charge attack causes an explosion, dealing a tonne of AOE damage. It also has VERY fast attack speed and on its third normal attack (at level 6 or higher) there's a finale damage increase as well. Yes, it's that good, especially when you combine it with the best shield in the game (Infected Shield).

Your first step in unlocking the Fungnir recipe is crafting and then giving "Infected" offerings to one or more Ant Queens. For example, give the Infected Mushroom Sandwich to the Red Ant Queen. She'll die, and you'll get a bunch of rewards. You'll also see the following message:

You sense a ripple in an alternate dimension.

You can feed Ant Queens the following (based on their type) as offerings to turn them into Infected Ant Queens once you enter NG+ mode.

  • Give Red Ant Queen an Infected Mushroom Sandwich.
  • Give Fire Ant Queen an Infected Toejam Sandwich.
  • Give Black Ant Queen an Infected Gum Sandwich.

With some Infected Ants guaranteed, enter New Game Plus. From here, navigate to the Ant Hills, where you've fed Ant Queens some Infected offerings. Slay the Ants inside and collect Infected Ant Parts.
