The Grand Underground is packed with exclusive Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl but just who is down there?
All Grand Underground Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

The official release of the long-awaited Pokémon remakes, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is almost upon us, with fans of the franchise showing their excitement and anger during the last few days, as details around the title's gameplay have been revealed.

While most of the game will be very faithful to the original 2006 releases, there are some portions that will be overhauled like the addition of Ramanas Park, where you will find exclusive legendary Pokémon, and Sinnoh’s underworld now known as the Grand Underground.

If you are eager to know a little more about this place, and what kind of Pokémon and rewards you will be able to find in either Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl, then you are in the right place.

Everything we know about the Grand Underground

First introduced as a subsection to the map, the Grand Underground is a vast subterranean world that spreads out like a maze beneath the entire Sinnoh region.

To access this area you must get and use the Explorer Kit you’ll receive during your playthrough. Once inside, you can participate in activities such as digging up valuable treasures such as Pokémon Fossils or even creating and decorating your own Secret Base.

However, its biggest attraction will likely be the Pokémon Hideaways, areas where you can find Pokémon that live in a variety of different environments ranging from still-water caverns to volcanic landscapes, some of these Pokémon will be exclusive to these Hideaways.

As with Pokémon you find in the overworld and Ramanas Park, some of these will be version-exclusive, meaning you will have to either trade with another player or transfer some from your Pokémon HOME in order to fill your Pokédex completely.

When in the Grand Underground, you will also be able to interact with other trainers either by local connection or through Nintendo Switch's online service. Players will be able to team up to explore the Grand Underground and dig for Fossils together.

All Pokémon available in the Grand Underground

All-in-all there are 35 Pokémon to be found in the Grand Underground, though only 29 can be found in both versions of the game.
