There are a lot of different racing games out there in the world and there is a market for different people. Some people enjoy fast action races that are not based on reality like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Others want the same fast-paced racing experience but want it a bit more based on reality, like Forza. Others want a pure simulator with very real physics, like BeamNG.drive.

BeamNG.drive is a racing simulator game that has been out since 2015 and it has a very dedicated fanbase. Those who enjoy realistic physics with a large number of cars available have attached themselves to BeamNG.drive. Now, there is a new update for BeamNG.drive that will allow players to play the game with a VR headset.

BeamNG.drive has been out since 2015 and has done constant updates for their fanbase. The game is still in Early Access but there is a lot to look forward to with this title. Now in the most recent 0.30 update, VR compatability is live although it is experimental. This update should work on any VR headset that players want to use. That is so long as the VR headset uses OpenXR.

This is an experimental version so a VR controller is required for some actions. There are ways to customize the VR experience so everything is within reach and players do not have to worry too much about reaching far away. Players also need to have a powerful computer to handle BeamNG.drive and VR at the same time.

When players load up in the game, they can toggle VR on or off at any given point during gameplay. This is good for those who easily get motion sick. There is also the option to have snap turning or smooth turning when looking around with the camera. The cockpit of whatever players are driving will be completely interactive as well.

This means opening doors, turning on switches, and more are completely functional through VR. Directional 3D audio has been included as well which will give players a better sense of realism of being in the car. Although this is all included, the developers have warned that this is still an experimental launch so expect some bugs and issues to pop up.
