Disney Dreamlight Valley - How To Get The Pickaxe

Disney Dreamlight Valley is a one-part adventure game and one-part life-sim, featuring characters from all over the Disney and Pixar universe. Like any life-sim game, there are plenty of activities for you to do in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

To progress the narrative, you will have to cleanse the valley and complete missions for the game's various characters. For this, you will need a pickaxe.

If you're new to the game and have no idea how to get this valuable equipment, fret not. Here's our guide that explains how to get the pickaxe in Disney Dreamlight Valley. 

Pickaxe location in Disney Dreamlight Valley

You will find the pickaxe next to the well in the Plaza of the Valley. Just head southeast of the Plaza, and you will find a large staircase, next to which is the pickaxe stuck in a massive rock. Taking the pickaxe will clear up the dark fog and open up new areas for you to explore.

Once you have the pickaxe, you can use it to break rocks and clear pathways in the Valley or use it to mine various resources, which you could then sell for Star Coins. 

You will also need the pickaxe to complete the 'The Royal Tools' quest, so make sure you get this handy equipment early on in the game.

How to upgrade pickaxe in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Thankfully, you can also upgrade and add extra features to your pickaxe in Disney Dreamlight Valley. There are three upgrades in total for the pickaxe, which you can unlock by completing various character quests.

To unlock the first upgrade, you will have to get access to Moana's realm and talk to Maui. For the second upgrade, you will have to first bring Maui to the Valley. Once Maui is in the Valley, he will offer to upgrade your axe in the quest 'A Tale of Stone and Fire.'

To unlock the third and final upgrade, you will have to first bring Anna and Elsa to the Valley. Doing so will give you access to the 'Breaking the Ice' quest, in which Elsa will offer to upgrade your pickaxe.
