Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2022 - Schedule, rewards, how to play, more

As Season of the Risen, the first of Year 5 in Destiny 2, is winding down, the 2022 Guardian Games will be the last bit of excitement during these last few weeks. 

There's been no shortage of events throughout season 16, most importantly, the release of the action MMO's biggest expansion to date, The Witch Queen, in February. Recent weeks have seen the addition of high-end activities such as Trials of Osiris, Iron Banner, GM Nightfalls, and Master raids.

But what is Destiny's 2 Guardian Games? Well, if you're looking for a PvE activity on the lighter side of things, then the 2022 Guardian Games is perfect. Just like its in-game reason for existing, the Games are nothing more than a Class-based friendly competition to see which reigns supreme for an entire year, with their victory celebrated with a small statue on the Tower. 

Of course, there's more than just pride at stake, including sweet gear for players to earn, regardless of their Class winning the Guardian Games. 

Destiny 2 2022 Guardian Games Schedule - Start date & time

The 2022 Guardian Games officially started on 3rd May with the regularly scheduled weekly reset.

The game will last until the end of Season of the Risen, giving players around three weeks to enjoy the Guardian Games to its fullest. 

Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2022 - How to play

Before we get into the how-to of the activities, let's say a new Guardian wants to jump in straight away into the event. It's definitely possible, you just need to follow a few steps:

• Escape the Cosmodrome to unlock the Tower

Once new players have met the above requirements, they will unlock a Milestone telling them to speak with Eva Levante in the Tower Courtyard. Eva Levante should be a familiar face to Destiny 2 veterans, as she's always the go-to when a seasonal event rolls around.

So how do you go about helping your class, whether you're a Warlock, Hunter, or Titan, achieve victory?

We don't think the format will change that much compared to previous years, with Guardians tasked with obtaining laurels, or in this case, medallions, by completing multiple in-game activities.

The leaked image also promises rewards for individual high scores, a new for 2022's edition of the Guardian Games. We'll fill up this section with concrete information once Bungie decides to unveil it.

Both weapons and gear are available to earn during the Guardian Games. This includes a new Eververse set of ornaments and a legendary SMG called the Title.

Guardian Games will be the perfect casual experience to relax after a hectic Season 16, looking to pave the way for whatever comes next to Destiny 2.
