Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2: New Weapons & Vehicles, POIs, Battle Pass, Ghost vs Shadow & Deadpool skin!

It's been a long time coming, the longest ever in fact but Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 is currently being rolled out, and when the servers go back up later today players will be able to get their hands on all the new goodies within the game.

Along with the release of the new update, Epic has released two new trailers - one to introduce the new season and one to explain the new Battle Pass which looks to have much more to it than simply unlocking cosmetics like previous seasons.

Players will be expected to pick an agency either the “Ghosts” or “Shadows”.

We have also been introduced to a new cast of characters including: 

Meowcles

Midas

Maya

The latter of which looks the most interesting as players for the first time will be able to totally customize her look. And we can have a look at the all the looks thanks to Fortnite data miner HYPE X.

There will be unique missions for each agency that will unlock new variations of each of the agents. The trailer also suggests you “choose wisely” which could mean once your in an agency you can’t get out - thus stopping you from getting certain skins!

“Limited time operations” are also promised which depending on their outcome will change the island forever. Could we see huge “event” battles at a similar scale to the infamous black hole that started Season 2?

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 - New POIs & Map

Going from the trailer and new map we can ascertain there are at least two new POI’s coming to Fortnite. The first one is this luxury boat - which will be in the north east corner of the map near the Steamy Stacks POI.

There is also a secret tunnel that runs from the Boat to steamy stacks!

The other area is a hideout which will be just west of Slurpy Swap.

There are also new POIs named The Shark, The Rig, The Grotto, and The Agency.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 - New Weapons

We have also seen two brand new weapons in the game. It's not clear yet if these are available straight away or if we will see them be released later in the season. 

The first up is the SMG. It's not the first time the SMG has been in the game and it looks to have found its way back in with Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2.

Next up is a brand new weapon - this combined grenade stick thing? It looks like a sticky grenade of sorts and with two explosives on it, it should pack quite a punch!

Launchpads have also returned and there have been sightings of the blue suppressed AR. 

Plus brand new items like Decoy Grenades - which creates an exact AI replica of your character model, Proximity Mines, and auto-turrets and security tunnels!

New Vehicles

Spotted in the trailer is this character bouncing along on what looks like something from Pokemon. They are certainly moving faster than their teammates so we can only guess that this is some sort of new mobility item!

Deadpool Skin

With the start of Season 2, it looks like we have another movie cross-over, and another Marvel one after the Avengers: Endgame kicked it all off back in April. This time it's everyone's favourite sweary superhero - Deadpool.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 Release Date & End Date

Epic has confirmed the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 start time is as follows:

• UK: 9am (GMT / UK)
• Europe: 10am (CEST / West Europe)
• East Coast US: 4am (EST / East Coast US)
• West Coast US: 1am (PST / West Coast US)
   

The end date for Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 is set for April 30th!
