Who says you can’t celebrate the Lantern Rite festival by yourself? Stop giving away all those Xiao Lanterns, and make your own wishes!
You can actually launch Xiao Lanterns in Genshin Impact - here is how

It turns out Xiao Lanterns aren’t limited just to quests and Theatre Mechanicus, you can actually light one up yourself! Find yourself a nice scenic spot, cue up your Kamera, and get ready to send off some lanterns to celebrate the Lantern Rite festival in style.

It’s honestly very simple to use Xiao Lanterns, though very easy to miss unless you’re looking for it. Head over to your Precious Items tab in your inventory (where your Intertwined and Acquaint Fates are etc.), select your Xiao Lanterns and click use. That’s it! After that, it’s just a matter of closing your inventory and watching your very own Xiao Lantern float up into the digital sky.

Xiao Lanterns how to use

Of course, you don’t actually get anything for using your Xiao Lanterns this way. There are no rewards (yet) for it, and they are needed for a lot of Lantern Rite quests and as the entry fee for the Theatre Mechanicus. With that in mind, it’s probably best not to just light all of your Xiao Lanterns yourself, unless you want to spend a significant amount of time farming for materials to make more…

That said, it does make for a great photoshoot opportunity, especially with how gorgeous Liyue is mid-festival at night. If you’re a player who is less concerned about rewards and efficiency and likes to get involved with roleplaying and getting some seriously aesthetic screenshots then get using those Xiao Lanterns!

As an additional incentive to be a little frivolous, with that all-new Kurious Kamera courtesy of Ji Tong and Five Flushes of Fortune you can get some great use out of the in-built filter when (or if) you do decide to launch and photograph your Xiao Lanterns in flight.

Go on, get into that Lantern Rite spirit!
