Should You Summon Jing Yuan In Honkai Star Rail?

We break down whether or not you should summon for Jing Yuan in Honkai Star Rail!
Should You Summon Jing Yuan In Honkai Star Rail?

Jing Yuan is right around the corner and will be the next limited event banner after Seele. Jing Yuan has already made a splash in the Honkai Star Rail Story and has captured the hearts of many after his animated short, "Flash." However, considering Jing Yuan is only the second event-limited banner in the game, chances are that a lot of players (especially those who summoned for Seele) don't have many Steller Jade left.

So, if you are wondering whether or not to summon Jing Yuan in Honkai Star Rail, you've come to the right place. This article will cover why you should or shouldn't summon Honkai Star Rail's Jing Yuan!

No, you should probably not summon Jing Yuan in Honkai Star Rail. First and foremost, there are no rules for who you should summon in any game. Especially considering Honkai Star Rail is a PVE game that can be beaten using any character you like. If you love Jing Yuan's design and play style, go ahead and summon him if he will make your in-game experience more fun! That being said, here are a few reasons to be wary:

Power Creep

If you are a free-to-play player, only able to pick up one five-star character every couple of months or so, we would recommend skipping this particular banner or waiting for a rerun. It is important to spend your limited gems optimally and only summon future-proof characters. Usually, DPS characters in games like these are power crept very easily. This is because a new character will eventually release that deals even more damage. Support or debuff characters, on the other hand, are always useful and will always be useful later down the road. Silver Wolf is right around the corner and should be prioritized.

Jing Yuan Isn't Unique

Jing Yuan will be the best AOE character in the game when he comes out. However, as mentioned, he will probably fall off in the future. In fact, all of the launch characters are likely to fall off in the future. However, for a character like Seele, she at least has a unique ability tied to her kit in that she can take multiple turns. This makes her special as she can do something no other character can. Jing Yuan has his Lightning Lord, but this just deals more damage. There is nothing particularly special or unique to his kit aside from big numbers.

Serval & Kafka

Jing Yuan's banner couldn't have come at a worse time. Everyone is already drained from Seele and has little currency to spare. Additionally, Jing Yuan isn't really necessary because everyone gets Serval for free anyway. Furthermore, Kafka, a fan-favorite character, will be coming soon as well, who is Lightning DPS character.

To reiterate, this guide is not meant to stop anyone from summoning any character they want. Husbando/waifu over meta any day of the week. However, if you were on the fence, hopefully, this gives you a better idea of why it might be beneficial to save your Stellar Jade.
