The 2020 Mid-Season Invitational for League of Legends has been cancelled, according to a new rumour.

Speaking on his show Hotline League co-hosted with LCS analyst Mark Zimmerman, Travis Gafford claimed MSI 2020 has been cancelled entirely - stating he was “fairly confident” in the rumour.

“It should come as no surprise to anybody,” he added.

MSI 2020 was previously postponed from May to July due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has had a major affect on esports events across the world due to travel restrictions and safety measures.

Riot Games have yet to comment on the rumour so it’s important to take this with a pinch of salt, although it wouldn’t exactly be a huge shock considering the amount of cancellations already.

It might be particularly annoying however to Cloud9, who recently secured a qualifying spot at this year’s MSI after winning the 2020 LCS Spring Split against FlyQuest.

Speaking about the rumour on Hotline League, Cloud9’s midlaner Nisqy stated it “sucks”, although the team had a feeling it would be cancelled due to world events.
