Riot reveals big VFX update for Syndra, coming in League's patch 11.21

It’s been almost ten years since Syndra’s arrival to the Summoner’s Rift, in which the Dark Sovereign has become one of the staples around the mid lane, highlighting her performance during Worlds 2016 that led SKT to their third world championship.

So, to celebrate this historic accolade, Riot has revealed through the League's PBE Reddit all of the first details for her long-awaited VFX update, bringing a complete overhaul for every single of her abilities’ effects and almost all of her skins.

"Similar to the previous VFX updates we’ve made in the past (Ziggs, Zilean, Malzahar, etc), we're working on updates to the Visual Effects (VFX) of champions whose spell effects are in need of some love," said Sirhaian, Riot’s Senior VFX Artist, as opening for the announcement.

Most of the changes as part of this VFX update will come for her base and Justicar skins, with the latter being "finally readable" in-game. Snow Day Syndra’s skin will also receive some love with pretty big changes, mainly aimed at mirroring base's and cleaning up the noise.

Aside from these, her Atlantean, Queen of Diamonds, Star Guardian and Pool Party are set to receive some minimal tweaks, just to keep them updated to the current graphical standards, along with the famed SKT T1 Syndra skin, adding a subtle SKT logo in her LVL 5 E cone.

"Just like all the previous ones, and since these are smaller updates geared toward sprucing up some of the oldest members of the roster, they aren't in the same prioritization conversation as to how we decide who gets a VGU (where we take to model, gameplay, and thematic into account too!): they do not affect any other timeline and are simply dev passion projects."

This VFX update is scheduled to be released in League’s patch 11.21, however, this isn’t the only thing the Dark Sovereign will receive very soon, as Syndra will also get a new Bewitching skin, nicely fitting for the upcoming spooky season.
