Multiple references appear in the latest Marvel's Spider-Man 2 trailer, but one has caught our eye specifically.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Trailers References Big Wheel, Spider-Man's Deadliest Villain

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has received a new trailer, and this one features a reference to one of Spider-Man's most deadly rogues.

This villain is feared by Spider-Man and is responsible for events in his life such as the time he was stuck on a Ferris Wheel, the time he was hit by a hamster ball, and the time he was struck by a loose tire. That's right, Big Wheel is referenced in the Spider-Man 2 trailer.

...Okay, everything we just said was a lie. Well, almost everything. Big Wheel IS referenced in the trailer as the name of a Ferris Wheel, but the absolutely ridiculous Spider-Man villain himself isn't anywhere to be seen in the new story footage. While it's likely just a throwaway reference to one of Spider-Man's most laughable opponents, the DLC for Marvel's Spider-Man DID adapt Screwball, who is a similar caliber of villain, so there's the potential Big Wheel could show up somewhere.

Who is Big Wheel?

Big Wheel (real name Jackson Weele, yes, we're serious) was first introduced in 1978 as part of The Amazing Spider-Man #183. He quite literally rides around in a big wheel and is used as the punching bag of a few characters despite having a rather tragic backstory (seriously, look it up. That poor man). He's appeared in a few stories since his original release but has still remained as a joke character more than anything else, with a second Big Wheel appearing in 2018 who to this day remains unnamed.

Big Wheel has actually appeared in a few video game titles, with the character appearing in the PSP version of Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, a future version of the character appearing in the Nintendo DS version of Spider-Man: Edge of Time, and an appearance in 2001's Spider-Man: Mysterio's Menace for the Game Boy Advance as a boss.

The trailer also references Speed Demon as the name of a Rollercoaster in the same shot, who was a member of the Squadron Sinister and an Avengers villain. The character was originally named 'The Whizzer' in his 1969 debut but was renamed in 1981 for obvious reasons, becoming 'Speed Demon' in The Amazing Spider-Man #222. Speed Demon has jumped from villain to villain over the years, but has recently been featured as a main character in the critically acclaimed Superior Foes of Spider-Man run, along with featuring as a member of the Sinister Six during Marvel NOW!

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is currently set to launch on October 20 and will receive a new PS5 bundle to celebrate the title, along with a new controller. It remains to be seen if the game will adapt the true deadliest villain Spider-Man has ever faced, The Wicked Wall.
