Mortal Kombat 2021 movie gets new logo, will release in cinemas and streaming at the same time

The upcoming Mortal Kombat movie has received a new logo, and will now launch on streaming services and cinemas at the same time in the US.

Warner Bros announced all of its 2021 film releases will release on streaming service HBO Max alongside cinemas, meaning you’ll be able to instantly watch the likes of The Suicide Squad, Dune, Matrix 4 and Mortal Kombat from the comfort of your home on release day.

These films however will only be given a one month access period on HBO Max, while they’ll continue to be shown in movie theatres beyond that point.

It’s still unclear how this will work for European audiences. HBO Max is set to arrive in European territories in the second half of 2021, while Wonder Woman 1984 will be available through Sky a month after its released in cinemas.

It’s likely the rest of WB’s slate will be released through Sky in a similar fashion, although that’s yet to be announced.

If you’re excited about the new Mortal Kombat movie, actor Lewis Tan debuted a new logo for the flick. The film will also star Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Joe Taslim as Noob Saibot, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano and more.

The film, directed by Simon McQuoid, is the third live-action movie in the Mortal Kombat universe following 1995’s Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation in 1997.

Little else is known about the plot for Mortal Kombat 2021, although considering the surprisingly decent story mode in Mortal Kombat 11, it might be better than many expect.
