How to get into the closed beta of New World

Enter a whole new world when the beta for Amazon Games’ newest title drops.
How to get into the closed beta of New World

The day that many MMO fans around the globe have waited for is almost here. Amazon Games’ biggest project to date, New World, is set to release its closed beta on 20th July. This comes after last year’s delay due to the company working from home amid COVID-19.

While the New World Alpha has been live for a few months, only select testers who signed up on the game’s website were able to have access. Now, there are a couple of surefire ways to play New World and experience Aeternum in the closed beta. However, those ways are somewhat confusing, so allow us to explain.

The first and easiest way to gain access to the New World closed beta is by simply pre-ordering the game. This can be done through Steam or through New World’s website, where you’ll need to input your Amazon account. There are two editions to pre-order, the Standard ($40) and Deluxe ($50). If you choose to pre-order the game, you’ll receive a plentiful amount of benefits and rewards, depending on which edition you pre-order. These rewards include, but are not limited to:

  • Isabella’s amulet: Equip Isabella’s amulet to gain additional constitution to weather attacks and deal additional damage against certain types of supernatural enemies.
  • Guild crest set: Three unique guild crests featuring axes, muskets, and armor.
  • Woodsman armor skin (Deluxe Edition)
  • Woodsman hatchet skin (Deluxe Edition)
  • Mastiff House Pet (Deluxe Edition)

However, the biggest benefit to pre-ordering is closed beta access. You can download the closed beta on PC before or after July 20 no matter what edition you purchase.

The second way to gain access to the closed beta is by signing up as a tester. This is only done on New World’s website and requires some basic information. Once the beta is live, New World will select random testers to join the beta. This invite comes through email and will happen periodically.

If you’re an alpha tester and haven’t pre-ordered, there’s still no word on whether or not you’ll keep access to New World. That information should be updated on the website’s FAQ in the coming weeks. However, all of your gear and stats will reset when the beta drops on 20th July.

The New World closed beta runs from 20th July to 2nd August and fully releases on 31st August.
