Bringing the best counters against Kyurem can guarantee you can catch the Pokémon, but more importantly, will there be a Shiny Kyurem to encounter? We've detailed whether a Shiny Kyurem is available and how to catch it in Pokémon GO's Winter Holiday Part 2 event.

Yes! Kyurem can be Shiny in Pokémon GO in the latest five-star Raid encounter. While the Legendary Dragon/Ice-type Pokémon first debuted in July 2020, its Shiny form was only introduced during the Holiday event in December 2021.

Kyurem and its Shiny form are available during the Winter Holiday Part 2 event as its five-star Raid Boss is available from 23rd December 2022 until 1st January 2023 at 10 am local time. More specifically, should you be lucky enough to defeat and catch Kyurem or a Shiny Kyurem during the Winter Holiday Part 2 event, a featured attack will be available for the Legendary Dragon/Ice-type Pokémon.

You can catch Kyurem any time between 23rd December 2022 and 1st January 2023 at 10 am local time; it will know the featured Charged Attack, Glaciate. This icy-charged move can be used in Trainer, Gym, and Raid Battles, for which in Trainer Battles, it will have 60 Power and a buff that reduces your opponent’s Attack stat.

When utilized in Gym and Raid Battles, the Charged Attack will have a Power stat of 160 with a cooldown period of 2.5 seconds before using it again. The Glaciate Charged Attack can be pretty powerful to counter attacks from Dragon, Flying, Grass, and Ground Pokémon.

Trainers hoping to add Kyurem to their Pokédex will need to bring the best counters against this powerful Pokémon vulnerable to Dragon, Fairy, Fighting, Rock, and Steel types. Accessible Pokémon like Machamp, Lucario, Scizor, and Gardevoir can do well for Trainers, but as it’s a Legendary Pokémon, Dragonite, Tyranitar, Salamence, or Dialga can be pretty effective against Kyurem.

Like with the Cobalion Raid, you can use Premier Balls should you have them in your Item Bag or earned from the Cobalion Raid and use Curveball Throws to maximize your chances of getting the Pokémon. Lastly, you can use various Berries like Razz Berry or Golden Razz Berry to make catching Kyurem easier, Nanab Berry to assist with your throws, and Silver Pinap Berry to receive more Kyurem Candy after catching it.
