Can Woobat Be Shiny In Pokémon GO – Spotlight Hour

Niantic is set to wrap up all the activities for their ongoing Valentine's Day event, as the weekly Spotlight Hour will begin shortly. Coinciding with the current seasonal event, the developer will bring the loveable bat-looking Pokémon, Woobat, to the game.

Known for its fluffy appearance, this Psychic/Flying Pokémon can also bring love-induced fortune should it leave its mark on Trainers, but will you spot a Shiny Woobat? We explore the chances of Trainers encountering a Shiny Woobat in Pokémon GO.

Will There Be A Shiny Woobat In Pokémon GO?

The Psychic/Flying Pokémon, Woobat, may be small, fuzzy, and slightly adorable, but it has been closely associated with good fortune, especially for romantic prospects. Nevertheless, if you want to add Woobat to your Pokédex, you could encounter a Shiny Woobat in-game.

Woobat is gaining a Spotlight Hour event which will occur on 14th February 2023 for an hour between 6 pm and 7 pm local time. This limited-time event occurs during the Valentine's Day event, which ends on 14th February 2023 at 8 pm local time.

The Valentine's Day event bonuses will still be active when the Spotlight Hour event begins, but it also has its event bonuses. For the Woobat Spotlight Hour, you can earn double Stardust when catching Pokémon but other Spotlight Hour bonuses will be active, too, including:

  • Double XP when evolving Pokémon
  • Double XP for catching Pokémon
  • Double Candy when catching Pokémon

As you'll be encountering Woobat more frequently in the wild, you can utilize any Incense or activate a Lure Module, which must be used on a PokéStop. Either item will attract the loveable Shiny Woobat to your current location, making it easier to catch the Pokémon.

Once you've encountered a Shiny Woobat, don't forget to check your Bag to ensure you have enough Poké Balls to catch the Pokémon. For Trainers making progress on the month's Field Research tasks, this would be an excellent opportunity to use any of the Throws to boost your chances of catching Woobat.

Lastly, take advantage of feeding Berries to ensure that you will acquire a Woobat or Shiny Woobat. Razz Berries can increase your success rate, Nanab Berries will slow it down, and Pinap Berries will double the amount of Candy you'll earn once it is caught.
