It is now December which means it is time for a brand new season of Pokemon GO. Right now, Pokemon GO is entering the Mythical Wishes Season which brings in a slew of new Pokemon raids and introduces even more Pokemon to the game.

New Pokemon means new raids and that means new shiny Pokemon as well. Mega raids are ramping up and players will soon be able to go after Mega Swampert. One of the most common questions that are asked is about if a raid will feature a shiny Pokemon or not. Here, we will give you the details on whether or not you can catch a Shiny Mega Swampert.

Can I Catch A Shiny Mega Swampert In Pokemon GO?

If you want a quick and short answer, the answer is yes. You can catch Shiny Mega Swampert in Pokemon GO. On December 3rd, Pokemon GO will host the Hoenn Mega Raid Day. That means there will be three Mega Pokemon Raids on this day. The three Mega Raids are:

  • Mega Sceptile
  • Mega Blaziken
  • Mega Swampert

During the Mega Swampert raids, you will get a chance to catch a Shiny Mega Swampert. But there are some conditions that you need to meet before getting Shiny Mega Swampert.

The first thing is that you need to actually beat the Shiny Mega Swampert. Shiny Mega Swampert will only make itself known if you beat the Mega Raid. On top of that, there is a very short window of opportunity to catch Shiny Mega Swampert. The Hoenn Mega Raid event is only on December 3rd and it is only available from 2 pm to 5 pm your local time.

That gives you a very small window to catch Shiny Mega Swampert. And you have to remember that in Pokemon Go, raids only have around a 1 in 15 chance of it being shiny. So the window of opportunity to get a Shiny Mega Swampert is low and the time to get one is low as well. But it is worth the challenge.

At the very least, any Mega Swampert you catch will have a special move. It will have the charged move, Hydro Cannon. Hydro Cannon is a very strong charged attack so it is definitely worth your time to catch a Mega Swampert, even if it is a normal one.
