As the newest entry to the Pokémon game franchise, many fans had exceedingly high hopes for Scarlet and Violet. However, they were soon disappointed by the game's terrible performance and glitches, which prompted many players to bombard it with negative reviews. More recently, however, a rather interesting bug involving Wiglett made waves online, although it is not exactly family-friendly.
As spotted by Comic Book staff writer Marc Deschamps, one Pokémon Scarlet and Violet player encountered an NSFW bug after attempting to catch the Water-type pocket monster, Wiglett. However, after the Pokémon reemerged from the PokéBall, a glitch resulted in Wiglett spawning directly through the NPC character's pants!
A video of the bug was later shared by the Twitter account @world_buzz_news on 20 November, attracting nearly 5 million views and over 37,000 retweets. While the Wiglett could hardly be mistaken for the character's er... private parts, the ironic positioning of the Garden Eel Pokémon is enough to raise more than just a few eyebrows.
It's worth noting that this isn't the first Pokémon Scarlet and Violet bug to go viral, either. Just days prior, a different Twitter user showed how their character literally slipped and fell through the game's map. Talk about a yikes moment. While these kinds of game-breaking glitches are less common, it hasn't stopped players from expressing their dissatisfaction.
Amid the slew of bugs and technical issues, many players feel that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are far from polished. As a result, many have opted to request a refund. While the game certainly pushes the boundaries of what is possible for current-gen Pokémon games, it's clear that more work needs to be done. That said, the game is not all that bad (performance issues aside, of course) and successfully creates a more immersive experience.
Hopefully, these are just teething issues, which Game Freak will address in future updates.
