The Pokemon Company has announced the ruleset for Series 2 of competitive Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: Rules For Series 2 Competitive

In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, players can play Pokemon battles online. Not only that, there are rulesets made for the top competitive gameplay of Pokemon. These rulesets extend to the official Video Game Championship (VGC) tournament for Pokemon, where the best trainers use the best Pokemon possible to battle for a championship.

Currently, we are in the Series 1 ruleset for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. However, Series 2 for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet was just announced, and there are some major changes that players need to look out for. So here, we go over the rules for Series 2 of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet competitive battles.

What Are The Series 2 Rules For Pokemon Scarlet And Violet?

The first thing to note is that all the technical rules for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are the same for Series 2. The timers, your time, amount of Pokemon you bring, all of those kinds of rules remain the same in Series 2. But there is one major key difference between the two series of competitive Pokemon battles.

The major difference between the two series is that in Series 1, Paradox Pokemon are banned. However, in Series 2, players are allowed to use Paradox Pokemon. That means Pokemon like Scream Tail, Iron Hands, Iron Valiant, Great Tusk, and others can be brought into battle.

On top of that, there is no limit on how many Paradox Pokemon you can bring. So feel free to bring an entire Paradox Pokemon team to Series 2 battles. The only thing to note is that even though Koraidon and Miraidon are both Paradox Pokemon, they are still banned. So you cannot add Koraidon or Miradon to your team.

That said, the Legendary Treasure Pokemon remains banned as well. Likewise, Charizard and Cinderace are also still prohibited, as you can only use Pokemon from the Paldea Pokedex.

As of this time of writing, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players will still have to play Series 1 battles. On top of that, rankings will reset when Season 2 of Series 1 commences. But players will have to plan for the future as well.

Series 2 of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will begin on February 1st. Series 2 will last until March 31st, and then the game will transition into Series 3 rulesets.
