What Is Terastallization In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?

Pokemon Terrastallization is the newest battle mechanic for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and we have the details on what exactly that means.
What Is Terastallization In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?

The Pokemon series is around 25 years old and despite that age, it is still one of the most popular IPs in the entire world. Fans all over the world wait eagerly for the next release of the game, and now, Scarlet and Violet are coming out. One of the main reasons why Pokemon remains so popular is due to the updated battle mechanics.

One of the latest battle mechanics in the game is called Terastallization. This transforms your pokemon to Terastal Pokemon and changes how battles work in the game. Here, we will go over everything we know about Terastallization.

What Is Terastallization in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?

Nintendo has posted given us a lot of information and videos about what Terastillizatoin is. Terastal Pokemon is a new battle mechanic for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. This is like how Dynamax was the main battle mechanic for Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Essentially, trainers can turn their pokemon into a Terastal Pokemon during a battle. What that means is that your Pokemon will transform during a battle. This transformation will give your Pokemon what looks like a jeweled crown on top of their heads and make their bodies look shiny.

What this functionally does is pretty simple. Pokemon have types that they are born with. For example, Eevee is a normal-type Pokemon. When Eevee Terastallizes, it could potentially change its own type for the battle. Although Eevee is usually a normal-type Pokemon, it could have a Water Terastal form, which means Eevee is a water-type Pokemon for that battle.

Eevee could also have a normal Terastal type as well. What that would do is make all of Eevee's normal-type moves even stronger than before.

Can Any Pokemon Terastallize?

Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have confirmed that, yes, any Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet can Terastallize. On top of that, there are near limitless possibilities of Tera-types in the new upcoming games.

What that means is that any Pokemon could be any Tera-type. A Fuecoco could possibly have a Water Tera-type or even a Steel Tera-type. This makes Pokemon battles much more dynamic because of all the different Tera Pokemon you can end up getting. The only real limit players will have with Tera-types is finding the correct one for the Pokemon they want to use.
