Deep Sea Tooth in Pokémon BDSP, how to get

Clamperl has the ability to evolve into two Pokémon, one of which requires the Deep Sea Tooth.

There are dozens of evolutionary items within Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. From the traditional evolutionary stones to something specific like the Reaper Cloth, players will have their hands full trying to track down every item to evolve their Pokémon.

One item that’s been tripping players up, however, is the Deep Sea Tooth. This item has two uses in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. The first is to increase Clamperl’s Sp. Atk stat while the second is to evolve Clamperl into Huntail after being traded while holding it. This means that if players want to train a Clamperl from the ground up and eventually evolve it into Huntail, they’ll need a Deep Sea Tooth.

Clamperl can evolve into two different Pokémon, Gorebyss and Huntail. Gorebyss’ evolution is similar to Huntail’s but requires the Deep Sea Scale instead.

If you want a Huntail, though, you need the Deep Sea Tooth, which can be found in two separate ways. The first is by catching three different wild Pokémon: Caravanha, Sharpedo and Huntail. Huntail can be caught outright, so if players need one for their Pokédex they can simply catch the Huntail out in the wild. However, if players want to EV train their own Clamperl, then they can see if any of those three Pokémon are holding a Deep Sea Tooth.

There’s a 5% chance those Pokémon will be holding the item after you catch them, which isn’t great odds. For a better chance at finding the tooth, you can head into the Grand Underground and search in the southwestern zone caves. Inside of these caves, there’s a small chance for a Poké Ball to appear on the ground, which can hold the Deep Sea Tooth.

Neither way is a guaranteed shot to acquire the item, but those are the only two ways to acquire a Deep Sea Tooth in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
