Walk with Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, how to

The Pokémon walking feature has been brought back in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

One of the most beloved features in any Pokémon title has been the ability to have them walk alongside you throughout your travels. The Johto games first introduced this feature but few games since have allowed players the opportunity to do so. However, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl has brought the walking feature back to fans’ delight.

However, the option to walk with a Pokémon is not available at the start of the game. In fact, some players have gone through entire playthroughs without realizing they can bring their Pokémon out of the ball and into the open.

Below, a comprehensive guide will show players exactly how to see their Pokémon alongside them in the Sinnoh remakes.

The first step in this process is to make it to Hearthome City. Once in the large city, you’ll need to make your way to Amity Square with a “cute” Pokémon. These are classified as the starter Pokémon, Pachirisu, Buneary or Pikachu. Then, head to the northern part of Hearthome City to the Amity Square Gate and talk to the lady behind the red desk.

She will tell you the rules of Amity Square, which is essentially allowing you to walk with a cute Pokémon. You can choose whichever cute Pokémon you have in your party and take a stroll with them in the park.

After you’ve spent some time in the park, you can exit the gate and bring up your party screen. Now, pressing on any Pokémon will give the option to “Walk together.” And this isn’t just with cute Pokémon anymore, you can do this with any Pokémon in the game.

Once you’ve clicked on the option, that Pokémon will appear behind you in the world. You can only have one out at a time, though, so you’ll need to repeat this process if you want to see another one of your team members.
