Silent Hill F has just been announced, and fans of the franchise couldn't be more excited. The game is said to have an entirely new story set in 1960s Japan, and leading the charge is acclaimed visual novel writer and horror game developer, Ryukishi07. 

Those unaware of who exactly Ryukishi is might wonder why those in the know are so excited by his involvement. Let's take a deep dive into why Ryukishi and Silent Hill are a perfect match

Ryukishi is often considered one of the greatest visual novel writers of all time. He is most known for his work on "Higurashi When They Cry" and "Umineko When They Cry." Both of these titles have cult followings, with many praising the writing and the overall atmosphere.

These games have also been described as "sound novels" in that "the music, backgrounds, and characters work together to create a world that is the stage of a novel for the user to read." Needless to say, it will be incredibly exciting to see how Ryukishi lends his atmospheric worldbuilding to Silent Hill F.

Both Higurashi When They Cry and Umineko When They Cry have glowing reviews on Steam, so it will be great to see what exactly Ryukishi has up his sleeve!

Ryukishi may be the Silent Hill F writer stirring the most buzz, but several other creatives are ready and waiting to lend their talents to the game. Motoi Okamoto, who has worked on games such as Pikmin and Luigi's Mansion as a writer, will also be there to support Ryukishi.

Additionally, Kera, an artist who has completed work on the Spirit Hunter visual novel series, will be completing several characters and creature designs for the game. With so many big names behind Silent Hill F and the array of talent on offer, the game is shaping up to be the best in the franchise!
