Smash Ultimate tournament King of WiFi Random Characters: Start time and how to watch

For the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate community, the Quarantine Series has become the go-to place for online events featuring the best players.

Organised by Alpharad and MoistCr1TiKal, King Of WiFi Random Characters is hoping to inject some fun back into Smash Ultimate tournaments - which have been troubled by poor online connectivity.

So what can you expect from King of WiFi Random Characters? Aside from the obvious clue in the title, here’s what you need to know about the Smash Ultimate tournament.

What is King of WiFi Random Characters?

King of WiFi Random Characters is the latest tournament in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Quarantine Series of events - designed to fill the gap following the Smash World Tour delays.

Taking place on Saturday 30th May, the tournament will see top players compete with some more playful rules designed to accommodate the game’s poor online experience.

What are the new rules and prize pool?

Organisers decided to change the rules for the Quarantine Series in light of online frustrations, so King of WiFi will be region locked to United States, Canada and Mexico to ensure stronger connections between players.

This is also the first tournament in the series where competitors will be forced to play with random characters, after fighters like Sonic are believed to have advantages online.

The tournament will have a $10,000 prize pool.

When does it start?

The tournament kicks off with pools on Saturday 30th May at 5pm BST/12pm ET, with the tournament continuing throughout the day.

We'll update this page if more specific times for Top 32 and Top 8 become available.

Who is competing?

The Box winner Spencer “BestNess” Garner is set to compete at the event, along with big hitters like Gavin “Tweek” Dempsey, Leonardo “MkLeo” Lopez, and Nairoby “Nairo” Quezada.

There’s also Enrique “Maister” Hernandez, Samuel “Dabuz” Buzby and Genesis 7 champion Tyler “Marss” Martins - pretty much everyone you could hope for.

How can I watch King of WiFi Random Characters?

King of WiFi Random Characters will be streamed across MoistCr1TiKaL’s official Twitch channel.
