Will Sons of the Forest Be Released on VR?

Endnight Game's sequel to their massively popular survival horror of 2014, Th Forest, has finally been released, and fans are ecstatic to get their hands on this new title, Sons of the Forest. While the game boasts many features that the original did, such as its terrifying environments, horrific enemies, and realistic gameplay, newer tech such as VR is now more publically available, and many are curious to know if the game will support it. 

So in this article, we'll be discussing whether or not Sons of the Forest will support VR and what we can expect as the game moves forward in the months to come. So without further delay, let's dive right in. 

Will Sons of the Forest Be Released on VR?

Based on everything we know at the time of writing, Sons of the Forest will not support VR at launch. Endnight Games has not made any public statements on the game's VR compatibility so far, and it may be for a good reason.

The release date for Sons of the Forest has previously been pushed back several times, from May 2022 to October 2022 to the current date of 23 February 2023. Also, because the game is far larger than The Forest, adding VR functionality at launch would likely complicate everything and add an enormous amount of work for the developers at the company.

While this may be disappointing for many players, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. If we take a look back at the first game in the franchise, The Forest, which did receive a VR port later in its life, and became extremely popular with players, it's likely Sons of the Forest will also receive VR support at a later date.

Sons of the Forest VR Release Date

Since VR support for the game hasn't been a huge focus for the developers as the game was first developed, there isn't much in the way of a release date for Sons of the Forest in VR. Its predecessor, the Forest, received a VR beta update game four years after its initial release that implemented VR, so if the new game follows this same trend, it may be a while until we see a VR version of Sons of the Forest.

However, since there is more VR technology for the company to use at this point, as well as an entire codebase to reference from the first game, it may be sooner than four years (we hope). So for now, be sure to check back here soon for more news as we'll update you on anything VR related when it comes to Sons of the Forest.
