Star Wars Jedi Survivor Reveals Five New Fighting Stances, And Story Details

After weeks of rumors, Respawn Entertainment finally revealed the gameplay trailer of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor at The Game Awards 2022. Set five years after the events of Jedi Fallen Order, Jedi Survivor sees the return of Cal Kastis as he grows from a young Padwan to a  powerful Jedi Knight.

The gameplay trailer of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor revealed plenty of new story and gameplay details about this upcoming sequel, including duel-wielding lightsabers, a new buddy AI character, and more.

Now, speaking with Game Informer, game director Stig Asmussen has elaborated on everything we saw in the reveal trailer, as well as some new tantalizing info on Cal's latest endeavor within the galaxy.

Kylo Ren style fighting stance and more are coming to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Jedi Survivor features five unique fighting stances.

One of the most notable changes in Stars Wars Jedi: Survivor is the addition of new fighting stances. Each stance offers unique gameplay experiences and is advantageous in different combat encounters. Learning when to use a particular stance is key to success.

There are five fighting stances in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Aside from wielding a single blade like in the first game, players can now dual-wield lightsabers for high-speed attacks. Cal can now also equip a blaster and a lightsaber, allowing for a mix of ranged and melee combat.

A fourth heavy stance that resembles that of Kylo Ren's from the movies is also available but requires a more measured approach. According to Asmussen, "It’s a more confident approach. It’s weighty; it’s beefy. But you have to be very measured on how you use it because the timing windows are longer with the blade.”

As far as the story is concerned, expect to see returning faces like BD-1 and Cere Junda. Cal will also come across new friendly faces, including a new mercenary named Bode Akuna. Aside from playing a prominent role in the story, Bode will also help Cal in combat and traversal.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launches on 17th March 2023 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
