Subnautica: Below Zero - Where to find the High Capacity O2 Tank

Going deeper in Subnautica: Below Zero requires a serious upgrade to your oxygen tank.
Subnautica: Below Zero - Where to find the High Capacity O2 Tank

One of the first upgrades that many players try and acquire in Subnautica: Below Zero is their oxygen tank. The base tank simply doesn’t give you enough air to fully explore the ocean and gather resources efficiently. As a result, finding a higher capacity O2 tank becomes something of a necessity.

In Below Zero, there are four O2 tanks that players can acquire. These include the Standard, High Capacity, Ultra and Booster tanks. The standard tank is serviceable but for players to do some real exploring, they need the high capacity tank. Of course, the ultra tank is the ultimate goal but that won’t become accessible until midway through the game.

So in the short run, players want the high capacity O2 tank as quickly as possible. The problem is, finding the blueprint for it can prove rather tricky.

Finding the High Capacity O2 Tank in Subnautica: Below Zero

For starters, you need to have a standard O2 tank before they do anything. Not only does this help with finding the upgrade with it’s also a necessary ingredient in the crafting recipe.

After you have that, you can begin looking for a high capacity tank. Luckily for most players, you don’t need to go far to find the blueprint for the upgrade. As with most other equipment upgrades, the blueprint for the tank is found in a data box. These are left behind by former inhabitants of the world and simply need to be interacted with to open their contents.

The exact data box for the high capacity O2 tank is found in Twisty Bridges at the following coordinates: (-253, -124, -251). You can pull up their coordinates by pressing the F1 key, which pulls up a box with all of the relevant information about your game.

Once you find the data box and blueprint for the tank, head back to a fabricator and have the following resources:

  • X1 Standard O2 Tank
  • X2 Glass
  • X4 Titanium
  • X1 Silver

With this in hand, you can craft the high capacity O2 tank and ascend to deeper depths without needing to come up for air as much.
