When To Build Items In Teamfight Tactics

Here is our guide on when players should typically build items in Teamfight Tactics.
When To Build Items In Teamfight Tactics

Teamfight Tactics is a game that has a lot of random variables that players need to look out for. These random variables include items, augments, game mechanics, and more. Through these different aspects of the game, some patches are released once every two weeks that fine-tune these variables to make the game more balanced.

Because of that, it is pretty difficult for newcomers to come into the game with little information. This is even true after Riot made TFT a more straightforward game. So that is why having a basic understanding of the game can put you way ahead of the curve. Here, we will teach you when you should build items in TFT.

As we have said before, there are a lot of different items in the game. To make sure you do not get the same items every game, Riot has made it so players have to build their items using two randomly given components. As you gain more components, the number of options of items you can build will increase. In a lot of cases, players will wait until they have the perfect components to make the perfect item.

However, this is a trap most of the time. Gaining a lot of components to make perfect items means you are not building items when you should. The most important thing you need to do as a player is to survive. In most cases, having 3 or more components means you should probably build an item. But if you have 4 or more item components, you need to build an item because that is a power you are missing out on, hoping for something perfect.

Greeding items in TFT means that you are holding on to item components hoping to get the perfect item. This very rarely is the correct answer. The only time you would want to do this is when your carry is useless without that item. Examples include AP carries that need mana regeneration, like Spear of Shojin or Blue Buff.

Last Whisper is another almost necessary item for AD carries as it reduces the Armor of whoever they are attacking. However, there are workarounds for these items. Spear of Shojin and Blue Buff can be replaced with Guinsoo's Rageblade if necessary. The point is, having 4 or more components means you are losing out on a lot of power, so build those items to make sure you are not losing HP unnecessarily.
