The wait is finally over! The next action-packed season of Amazon's hit animated series, Invincible, based on the popular comic book of the same name, is on the way. According to a teaser trailer, Invincible Season 2 will premiere in late 2023 and feature several prominent names, including Steven Yeun as the voice of Mark Grayson/Invincible and Seth Rogen as the voice of Allen The Alien.
The teaser trailer shows Mark and Allen enjoying "a hot meal" at Burger Mart. Then, Mark breaks the fourth wall by telling Allen how he's been busy "writing, designing, storyboarding, voice acting, key posting" for "roughly thousands of shots." Clearly, a hint that the animators have been busy perfecting Invincible Season 2, Mark confirms that the "world will get more Invincible in late 2023." Sadly not much more detail about the new season was revealed.
Invincible is produced by American comic book writer Robert Kirkman (also known for his work on The Walking Dead) and follows the story of Mark Grayson, a teenage boy who discovers that he and his father are among the most powerful superheroes on Earth. The first season of Invincible, which debuted on Amazon's Prime Video streaming service in March 2021, was a massive success and garnered widespread applause for its high-quality animation and unique (albeit dark and mature) themes and storytelling.
Now, fans can look forward to the continuation of Invincible Season 2, which is expected to pick up from where Season 1 left off. Specifically, the previous season saw Mark grappling with the revelation that his father is a seemingly egotistical megalomaniac and that the Viltrumites (another alien race) have been manipulating humanity for their gain.
While the show will likely introduce several new characters, fans can rest assured to see the return of J.K. Simmons (voicing Nolan Grayson), Sandra Oh (Debbie Grayson), Gillian Jacobs (Atom Eve), Kevin Michael Richardson (Mauler Twins), and more -- although, how long they'll stay alive for is to open an entirely different can of worms.
