Amid the substantial changes patch v4.0 brings to Valorant, including buffs to the Bulldog, nerfs to the Spectre, and important map redesigns to Breeze and Bind, Riot confirmed one expected change for the forthcoming v4.01 -- the removal of Widejoy.
If you're out of the loop, a Killjoy player card has become notorious for not displaying correctly once Riot decided to update the cards to be shown in a more widespread manner with update v3.12.
These cards are displayed when a match is loading and as kill banners, so it's safe to say, players have plenty of time to showcase their style or brag about having an exclusive player card.
For months, the aptly dubbed Widejoy card has been adopted by players for its particular visual flair, which is clearly not meant to be depicted in its current iteration.
Riot will remove Widejoy card
The rising vogue of the Widejoy player card, with hundreds of memes populating Twitter and Reddit, has not gone unnoticed by the developers. Sadly, the fun has to end at one point, with Riot confirming Widejoy will be gone soon.
"We love her too but we’re going to have to fix that banner, but not until Patch 4.01, so have fun!" Riot wrote in their patch breakdown.
We have no proper date for when patch v4.01 will drop, but following Riot's schedule from previous updates, it's safe to assume it'll take at least a couple of weeks minimum, meaning you'll get just a few more days to proudly display Widejoy in all of its glory.
How to get wide Killjoy player card
Contrary to what you might believe, that is not the actual name of the player card. To add to your increasing disappointment, the Rainfall Killjoy card is not obtainable at the moment, as it was part of a previous battle pass reward which is not accessible anymore.
Maybe Riot will decide to let new fans join in for one last Widejoy ride by allowing everyone to get their hands on it, but that remains to be seen.
Killjoy has a lot of incredible player cards so don't feel too bad for missing out on this one. For me personally, not managing to get the Killjoy lofi card will haunt me for the rest of my days playing Valorant.
