Cyberpunk 2077 delayed again to December

After suffering numerous delays already, Cyberpunk 2077 will now release in December on all platforms.
Cyberpunk 2077 delayed again to December

While many thought another delay couldn’t be possible after going gold, CD Projekt Red has announced Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed again to 10th December.

In a developer update, they explained how they needed extra time to polish the title due to the pressures of making it compatible with nine different platforms at the same time - counting the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.

“The biggest challenge for us right now is shipping the game on current-gen, next-gen, and PC at the same time, which requires us to prepare and test 9 versions of it while working from home.

“Since Cyberpunk 2077 evolved towards almost being a next-gen title somewhere along the way, we need to make sure everything works well and every version runs smoothly. We’re aware it might seem unrealistic when someone says that 21 days can make any difference in such a massive and complex game, but they really do.”

They also explained how despite “going gold”, it doesn’t mean improvements stop being worked on for the title - with passing certification meaning the main content has simply been completed.

“We feel we have an amazing game on our hands and are willing to make every decision, even the hardest ones, if it ultimately leads to you getting a video game you’ll fall in love with," the developer added.

Cyberpunk 2077 was originally scheduled to release in April earlier this year, before being pushed back to September, and then 19th November

The game's official Twitter account even vowed in October earlier this year there'd be no more delays to the title - something which has come back to haunt them now.

While this delay likely won't affect the game sales wise in any dramatic way, still hitting the pre-Christmas window, it'll miss out on the initial next-gen buzz when the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S launch in November.

Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled to be released on 10th December across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC and Google Stadia.
