DrDisrespect proposes award show for games industry's "true creatives" starting in 2021

Herschel Beahm IV, better known as DrDisrespect, has teased an award show for 2021 which will celebrate the true creatives in the games industry.

DrDisrespect proposes award show for games industry's "true creatives" starting in 2021

Herschel "DrDisrespect" Beahm IV is no stranger to award shows, having won Esports Industry Awards' Streamer of the Year both in 2017 and 2019. The two-time has now taken to social media, proposing an award show for 2021 which focuses on things that really matter, and celebrates the "true creatives" in the games industry.

The two-time is known for speaking his mind, and following the Esports Awards 2020 winner announcements, DrDisrespect took to Twitter to propose a new type of award show.

In the tweet, DrDisrespect explained: "I think the gaming industry needs an award show that focuses on things that really matter."

The famous streamer then continued to list some categories which he thinks really matters in the industry.

The proposed categories are:

  • Best Multiplayer Map design
  • Best weapon skin design
  • Best single player level
  • Best menu music
  • Funniest clip
  • Gameplay clip of the year

These categories are to reward creativity, and in a follow-up tweet, DrDisrespect explains: "Reward the true creatives in the industry."

There is no telling if a games industry award show from DrDisrespect and possibly others will really happen in 2021. However, the two-time did say "It’s settled...Next year." pointing towards his proposal being more than just blowing smoke.

So far, the reception to this idea for a games industry awards show has been mostly positive on social media, with the likes of TimTheTatman, chiming in to give another example of a category namely: "fastest content creator."

At this point, only time will tell if there will really be a new awards show from DrDisrespect, so we will just have to wait and see for a more official announcement to appear.

It does sound like a nice idea, as long as DrDisrespect doesn't give himself all the awards...
