Riders Republic is a new massively multiplayer sports game from Ubisoft Annecy, the same studio that developed the extreme sports game Steep. Riders Republic features various sporting activities, such as mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, wingsuit flying, and rocket wingsuiting, in which over 50 players can compete against each other.

Arguably the most attractive feature of Riders Republic is its massive, single open-world map, representing a mix of real-world locations. Each location was recreated using GPS data and later integrated into a single world for players to explore or compete. But how big is Riders Republic's map exactly?

The Riders Republic game map stretches 250 square kilometres. It includes components of seven U.S. National Parks, including Bryce Canyon, Yosemite Valley, Sequoia Park, Zion, Canyonlands, Mammoth Mountain, and Grand Teton, meshed into a single map.

Game director at Ubisoft studios in Paris Arnaud Ragot recently spoke to Channel 9 News in Australia, speaking further on this mishmash of real locations, which took the developers several years to put together.

"There is a kind of never seen before living and refreshing experience, providing a true sense of community in the game while happening in some breathtaking landscapes. So, I really hope players will enjoy this feeling and go through plenty of emergent moments during their sessions," said Ragot.

Ragot continued to explain, saying: "It was essential for us to represent these national parks as close as possible to reality. This is why we started with satellite data, and we took the time to choose each species of tree, rock, flower, fauna to give each region a unique flavour."

Despite feeling like a revised version of Steep, Ragot contends that Riders Republic is meant to be a "social experience to share with your friends and the community" and noted his intention on bringing a "refreshing experience" with "breathtaking landscapes" to the game. However, only time will tell whether players will agree.

Riders Republic releases on 28th October on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
