How to import levels and progression into Hitman 3

Hitman 3 allows you to play all levels from past titles if you’ve previously purchased them, so here’s how to carry over your progress.
How to import levels and progression into Hitman 3

IO Interactive’s Hitman trilogy comes to a conclusion in Hitman 3, boasting some of the best levels yet in the series.

The latest Hitman trilogy was unique in how it rolled out levels to begin with, offering them as separate entities over a year-long period - although later games reverted back to bundling them together into one package.

This means Hitman 3 represents the culmination of every level so far, although there’s some hurdles you have to jump through. Here’s how to transfer progress and levels from Hitman 1 and 2 into Hitman 3

Update: IO Interactive has stated they’re having troubles dealing with the volume of traffic on their website, so check back here on when’s best to start transferring.

How to download Hitman 1 and 2 levels in Hitman 3

You'll need to get the Access Pass

Much like Hitman 2, you can download all past levels into Hitman 3

These levels are available to download as DLC through an Access Pass, with Hitman 1 levels stashed in the Hitman GOTY pass, while Hitman 2 Standard features the main six levels from Hitman 2, and Hitman 2 Gold adds four additional DLC levels on top.

Importing levels from Hitman 1

Whether you have the original Hitman on digital or disc, you’ll have to import them into Hitman 2 first before they can be downloaded in Hitman 3.

By importing them into Hitman 2, you’ll unlock the Legacy Edition there - which will subsequently unlock the Legacy Edition to download in Hitman 3 from the in-game store.

Importing levels from Hitman 2

If you purchased Hitman 2 digitally, you should have access to download the Hitman 2 Access Pass in Hitman 3 already.

If you purchased Hitman 2 physically on a disc, you might have to redeem the Access Pass within Hitman 2 before you can download it in Hitman 3. Some users however have stated the Hitman 2 pass was available to download in Hitman 3 if you have the Hitman 2 disc in your console.

It’s important to note you can only upgrade within a console’s family. In other words, PlayStation to PlayStation, Xbox to Xbox, across generations.

IO Interactive is currently working on a solution for PC. Hitman 3 is exclusive to the Epic Games Store, where Hitman 2 is unavailable to download - meaning users cannot transfer their progress from that game currently.

In the meantime, Epic Games Store users who purchase Hitman 3 within the first 10 days of release will have free access to the original Hitman 1 Legacy Edition.

How to download your progression from Hitman 2 to Hitman 3

You can bring over progress from Hitman 2

Carrying over your progression means you can continue from your user profile level in Hitman 2, along with your unlocks and completed challenges in past levels.

It’s important to note this process will wipe any progress you may have made in Hitman 3’s levels, so it’s worth doing this as soon as you boot up the third entry.

There are a number of things which won’t apply to the progression transfer however listed below.

  • Rewards from Hitman 1’s Game of the Year Escalations
  • Access to the ICA Electrocution Phone item
  • Save files from Hitman 2

To start the transfer process, you must visit the official IO Interactive website and log into your account. You can either do this through Hitman 3 itself or on another device. From there, simply follow the instructions which should link up your account.

It’s worth noting only progress will carry over from your Hitman 2 profile (which includes original Hitman 1 levels you’ve played in Hitman 2), but you cannot carry over progress from Hitman 1 directly. If you continue to make progress in Hitman 2 after the transfer, this progress won’t carry over into Hitman 3 either.
