Microsoft Flight Simulator Top Gun Maverick release date, trailer, features

Microsoft Flight Simulator revealed its Top Gun: Maverick expansion last year, and we expected its release soon after. But the expansion has been delayed due to what can be described as a marketing reason, and players want to know when they can expect to get their hands on the expansion promised to them. 

Well, today we have you covered on that front, as in this piece, we will be going over all the details you need to know for the upcoming release of Microsoft Flight Simulator Top Gun: Maverick. Including its release date, the trailer and what features we are expecting to see. 

Microsoft Flight Simulator Top Gun Maverick release date & trailer

Top Gun Maverick was scheduled to release alongside the Top Gun: Maverick movie’s release, but due to delays, the film release has been pushed back and will now be released on 27th May 2022, and so will the Top Gun Maverick expansion. 

This follows the official blog post from the Microsoft Flight Simulator Team on the current status of the game and why it will be delayed. "As we have previously announced, the Top Gun: Maverick expansion for Microsoft Flight Simulator will be released alongside the movie. We look forward to sharing more information in the future."

The game will be released on Windows 10 PC, Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass once it does release, and based on the footage from the trailer at Xbox E3, we are in for one epic and thrilling ride.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Top Gun Maverick features

While we don't have a lot of information on what the developers, Asobo Studio, plan to release with the new expansion. We do know the expansion will be built on top of the gameplay elements of Microsoft Flight Simulator allowing players to take to the skies of the hyper-realistic world and all it has to offer. 

We know that the expansion will feature fighter jets that will expand on the game already a sizable array of plane types. We also have some screenshots confirming the possibility of being able to launch from aircraft carriers in the game, and this all comes with updates to the game's locations to reflect the ones in the film release, and updates to the already established aircrafts available.
