Naraka Bladepoint: Release date, gameplay, weapons, trailer, system requirements, more

Naraka: Bladepoint was first revealed at The Game Awards back in December 2019 and since then, Chinese studio 24 Entertainment has been working hard on the game.

It has been a year and a half since the reveal, the game went through several beta testing, and this August it is finally ready for release.

In March of this year, the studio shared the first gameplay trailer, seen by over 700,000 people, so there is definitely a huge interest in the game, people are intrigued by it, and want to find out more about what the Chinese developer has to offer.

But what is this game exactly?

What is Naraka: Bladepoint?

Naraka: Bladepoint is a battle royale game at its core, but with a focus on melee combat, or how developers call it: Action Royale.

The game is set on a large map, the mysterious Morus Island, covered with forest, scattered ancient temples and other structures.

Naraka: Bladepoint offers a unique blend of a sword fighting game and the battle royale genre. It draws inspiration from games like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (combat style) and the Assassin's Creed series for its parkour and climbing elements. All that in a 60-player PvP battle royale game.

One of the key elements of gameplay is a grappling hook, which players can use to traverse trees and buildings in a very fast manner, but also to engage and disengage enemies, use it as an escape tool or as a weapon to deal damage. Understanding all its versatile functions and knowing when, where and how you can use it to maximise your advantage will be one of the most important skills players will need to learn in order to master the game.

The gameplay is very fast and explosive, the developers explain that "three core pillars of gameplay" are speed, agility and close-quarters combat.

The biggest focus is on face-to-face combat with various kinds of melee weapons which will offer a different set of attacks and playstyles, but also defensive moves like parrying, dodging, and counter-attacking. Proper timings and combo executions will be very important if you want to get out alive from a heated battle.

Aside from the game's close-quarters combat focus, Naraka: Bladepoint offers a variety of ranged weapons as well, but those are more of support weapons, with limited ammunition and it is much harder to use them than in a regular battle royale game, due to the quickness of characters.

Finally, the game will also feature various characters (like in Apex Legends) each with their unique basic, passive, and ultimate abilities, along with the addition of Souljade and Talent systems, which will allow for even more flexibility and diversity in playstyles.
