Sports fans, get ready! Your chance to go for gold and to set your foot on the global stage has finally come. Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 launches on the 22nd of June 2021 and includes 18 sporting events, such as Tennis, Football and Boxing.

If you’re a fan of the Olympics, then you’ll love being able to relive the glory moments along with your favourite Olympic athletes. Best of all, players will be able to customize their athlete’s apparel, taking on unique styles whilst centre stage. We’ve got you clued in with everything you need to know ahead of its much-anticipated release.

Olympic Games Tokyo 2020: Release date

Fortunately, fans won’t have to wait long because Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 launches in approximately 14 hours, at the time of writing, on the 22nd June 2021. The game will release on all major platforms, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia and (of course) on PC and will retail for USD 39.99.

Olympic Games Tokyo 2020: Gameplay

Anyone familiar with sporting games will know exactly what to expect. Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is an arcade-style sports game developed and published by SEGA. The game will include single-player, co-op and multiplayer support, with an array of modes to play; so there is something for everybody. 

The game boasts a total of 18 sports disciplines, which are listed below and features 80 national teams. Players will also be able to craft their own dream athlete with the robust avatar creation system. This system will comprise a library of clothing items, including traditional national kits and also custom apparel, such as cowboy, astronaut or even Sonic The Hedgehog outfits. Players will also be able to share their avatars with friends and create their own “ultimate dream team”.

  • Hammer Throw
  • Long Jump
  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Beach Volleyball
  • BMX (Cycling)
  • Boxing
  • Judo
  • Rugby Sevens
  • Football (Soccer)
  • 100m Freestyle (Swimming)
  • 200m Individual Medley (Swimming)
  • Sport Climbing
  • Table Tennis
  • Tennis

The game will also include a “Ranked mode” with a global leaderboard for those competitive players who want to flex their inner Olympian with the world.
