Sims 4 Patch Mistakenly Lets Players Have Incestual Relationships

A recent Sims 4 update released ahead of the High School Years expansion brought a bug allowing players' Sims to have incest relationships.
Sims 4 Patch Mistakenly Lets Players Have Incestual Relationships

The Sims franchise is known for providing gamers with the opportunity to build and mold their envisionments of life into a virtual world. As a life simulation game, there’s practically nothing you can’t do. However, as first reported by PC Gamer, a recent patch update in Sims 4 took things to the extreme after allowing players' Sims to form incestual relationships.

The bug was discovered by Reddit user “ProFoundEnd,” who realized that their Sim wanted its son to be their boyfriend. Additionally, this regrettable bug also caused players’ Sims to age quickly. The bugged patch came ahead of the High School Years expansion, introducing curved walls and new sexual orientations with its latest LGBTQAI+ feature.

According to the Reddit post by ProFoundEnd, their Sim (a granny in the game) became romantically interested in rekindling with their son. Their Wants was titled “Ask Vernon to Be Boyfriend." This Wants was an interaction allowing their Sims to form social and romantic relationships with other Sims.

ProFoundEnd said, “Why is my Sim getting a whim to ask her own son to be her boyfriend?” Funnily and coincidentally, ProFoundEnd’s Sim expressed a fearful face, possibly resembling most players' expressions, upon discovering the bug.

Some Redditors even commented, asking if these features are part of the Sims 4 patch. Other Sims players felt disgusted to know Sims 4 developers, Electronic Arts, seemingly didn’t test the patch before it was released. One player even reported that their Sims character wanted their twin sister to be their girlfriend. Another coexisting bug also rapidly ages Sims too.

Thankfully for Sims 4 players, they won’t need to worry about the bug anymore, as an EA representative and developer responded on Twitter. Sims 4 Live Operations team member and Quality Designer, SimGuruNick, said, “We’re looking to get it fixed ASAP, thanks for all the bug reports; we appreciate it. We’re of course working on the aging bug, too.”

Hopefully, Sims 4 won’t receive any more bugs relating to forming incestual relationships in the future. With the High School Years expansion debuting already, EA should have completely resolved these bugs or, at the very least, be in the process of doing so.
