Warframe Companion Rework Explained
Digital Extremes

Warframe companions are getting a major overhaul in the Abyss of Dagath update. In Devstream 173, Digital Extremes extensively revealed all the changes that are planned, including some new companion mods.

A companion rework in Warframe has been long overdue, and finally, the first round of changes is on the horizon. If you're excited to know all the new bells and whistles companions are about to receive, you're in the right place. Below, we break down all the changes coming to the companions in Warframe.

All Companions Changes Coming to Warframe

The most important change is that companions will no longer die during combat. Instead, they will get incapacitated for 60 seconds. The studio is also buffing their armor, health, and shields, thus increasing their overall survivability by 50%. With no permadeath and these buffs, companions will become more viable in challenging end-game content, especially if you're a solo player.

All New Companion Mods Coming to Warframe

There are 14 new companion mods coming to Warframe. Instead of the standard reviving ones, these are more interactive mods that change the synergy between you and your companion in combat.

The Devstream 173 revealed four of these interactive mods, which should give you an idea of what to expect from the rest of them.

  • Duplex Bond: Companion will clone itself each time you expend 100 energy. Clones live 30 seconds, and their kills have a 50% chance of dropping Energy Orbs.
  • Tenacious Bond: Headshots kills reduce Companion Recovery timer by 3 seconds. If the Companion's Critical Chance is over 50%, then you gain +60% Critical Damage.
  • Reinforced Bond: If the Companion exceeds 1200 Max Shields or Overshields then your fire rate is increased 60%. Reloading restores 150 Overhshields to your companion.
  • Aerial Bond: Airborne kills decrease Companion Recovery timer by 3 seconds and 9 seconds for headshot kills. Companion gains +49% movement and attack speed when Warframe is airborne, lasting for 3 seconds after returning to the ground.

These are all the changes coming to the companions in Warframe.
