Where To Get Curses In Sea Of Thieves

Curses are meant to remain forever but will cause no harm to pirates, as we've explained in this guide how to get Curses in Sea of Thieves.

Sea of Thieves features an abundance of cosmetic sets for players to dress up their pirates and sail the high seas in absolute style. From clothing pieces to weapons and vanity items, all designed to enhance the pirate's outer look, Curses are perhaps one of the more unique sets of items to be acquired.

As foreboding as the name is, Curses won't afflict their pirate with any status effect; instead, they leave a visible marking on the pirate once equipped. We've provided concise information on what Curses are and how to get them in Sea of Thieves.

What Are Curses In Sea Of Thieves?

Curses are a collection of vanity cosmetics that pirates can obtain before equipping them to their character. Curses are purely cosmetic and add no value to in-game progression, which can add an extra oomph to their pirate's overall look if they're willing to spend time acquiring them.

As Curses are earned in-game, there are eight Curses total as of Season 12's release available to get, but only six Curses require some elbow grease and plenty of moxy to get them all. Once pirates have completed the required steps, a Curse will be one of the few rewards that can be obtained from the Vanity Chest.

The Vanity Chest can be found aboard their Ships and outside the Athena's Fortune Hideout and the General Clothing Shop. Pirates can scroll through the tabs until the Curses tab is highlighted and can equip any of the unlocked Curses they've acquired.

As for obtaining any or all the Curses, five are currently present in-game, and they must meet specific requirements to earn them. As each Curse has its set of unique prerequisites that must be completed, most Curses will task them in finishing Commendations, except the Legendary Curse, which we'll detail in separate guides for each Curse.

  • Ashen Curse
  • Curse of the Order
  • Curse of Sunken Sorrow
  • Legendary Curse
  • Shores of Gold Curse

We've excluded the Skeleton Curse and the Legendary Blessing of Athena's Fortune Curses as these are standalone cosmetics with no ties to any existing cosmetic set in-game. The Skeleton Curse is obtained by having the Reaper's Bones Reputation level 75 or receiving the Champion of the Flame promotion.

The Legendary Blessing of Athena's Fortune Curse is a purchasable Curse that can be bought from the Athena's Fortune Shop for 1,000,000 Gold. Gold aside, before purchasing this Curse, they must have the Pirate Legend title, which is also needed to earn another Curse.
