Is Forza Motorsport Compatible With The Steam Deck

We’re days away from the Early Access release of Turn 10 Studios’ upcoming motor racing game, Forza Motorsport, for players who’ve pre-ordered their copy. As many are making the final preparations ahead of launch day, those playing the game on Steam will need to connect their Xbox Live account beforehand.

Speaking of Steam, if you want to take your racing experiences away from the PC and onto the Steam Deck, you may need to know if the game will be supported for this gaming handheld console. As such, we’ve explained whether Forza Motorsport will be coming to the Steam Deck at launch.

Developer Turn 10 Studios is gearing up for the global launch of its upcoming racing game, Forza Motorsport, on 10th October 2023, with Early Access beginning 5th October 2023. As the game will be available for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass, Cloud Gaming, Windows PC, and Steam, those getting the game at launch via Steam have wondered if the game will be supported for the Steam Deck.

According to a Forza FAQ support page, which was updated in early September 2023, technically, players can play the game at launch on the Steam Deck because it is available on Steam. However, the game's Steam listing is not categorized as "Verified" based on the Steam Deck Compatibility program and searches on Steam.

Nevertheless, it may follow suit as Turn 10 Studios has officially made Forza Horizon 4 and 5 "Playable" for the Steam Deck, so it's more than likely Forza Motorsport will also be "Playable" for the Steam Deck. As such, should players begin their racing career on the Steam Deck, it's worth noting that certain functionalities won't be functional when playing Forza Motorsport, which includes various Microsoft and Xbox-related features.

This includes the Xbox app, the Xbox Game Bar, and various multiplayer features like in-game invites that aren't supported on the Steam Deck. However, Xbox Cloud Gaming is available for players to access via the Microsoft Edge web browser on the Steam Deck once correctly installed and set up on the handheld device.

Players must have a keyboard and mouse to help set up Microsoft Edge and Xbox Could Gaming on the Steam Deck; however, they can use the touch keyboard, its display, or trackpads. While it's clear that there are no plans to make Forza Motorsport verified for the Steam Deck, based on information for Forza Horizon 4 and 5, we will update this guide to reflect additional news regarding the game's status.
