Apex Legends' Rampart abilities revealed ahead of Season 6

It was one of the worst kept secrets in gaming, and now it is official - the latest character to be joining Apex Legends will be Rampart, an Indian engineer whose real name is Ramya Parekh.

The legend will be joining the fray with the release of Season 6, which is scheduled to go live on 17th August in North America and the 18th in Europe.

And she won't be the only addition with Season 6 set to ring the changes for Apex Legends, with an updated map, all the new crafting system and weapon set to be added to the game.

But when the dust settles, it will be all about Rampart and the way her abilities fit into and change the meta, and thanks to the developers we now have confirmation of Rampart's abilities with a trailer dropping showcasing her unique skillset.

Rampart's abilities

• Tactical: Amped Cover - Build a crouch-cover wall which deploys full-cover amped wall that blocks incoming shots and Amps outgoing shots
• Passive: Modded Loader - Increased Magazine/Heat capacity and faster reloads/recharge when using LMGs and the Minigun.
• Ultimate: Sheila - Place a mounted machine gun that anyone can use. 150 round capacity, long reload time.

Rampart is very-much a defensive character, she can create cover using her "Amped Cover" ability. Shooting from behind this wall will also increase the damage of any weapons.

Her passive, "Modded Loader",  allows her to reload faster when using LMGs and her Ultimate, Sheila. As well as providing an increased magazine size.

Her Ultimate is the Sheila, a 150 round mounted machine gun. This thing looks like it shreds, but players will need to be careful. You will be stationary in use and its got a monster reload time.

So that is Rampart, probably the most heavily defensive legend the game has yet seen. As part of a well-oiled trio she may well become meta, her Amped Cover has the potential to exponentially increase the damage output of an entire squad, and a "Shiela" in the right place could prove devastating.
